Bug List

1.     University Avenue during rush hour gets so backed up that I have to leave for an Orange Theory fitness class 3 miles away, 30 minutes beforehand if I want to make it.
·       Why? University Ave is already a busy road on campus and in the middle of Gainesville, so during rush hour it is even ten times worse. People going to dinner, getting off work, and leaving or going to class. It’s sometimes so backed up that I even miss my class and get charged 10$ for doing so.
2.     Apple Touch ID randomly stops being able to verify my fingerprint at least once a week and sometimes locks me out of my phone for a few minutes.
·       Why? Apple products often have glitches and can’t be relied on as much as they are. Touch ID forums say it’s my finger, but what’s the point of even having the Touch ID if it won’t verify my fingerprint and has no real solution to fix it?
3.     The Publix on University Ave and 34th Street has the longest wait for subs that it takes 30 minutes just to get through 4 people.
·       Why? There is only one person working behind the counter and it’s always the same lady, who feels the need to have full on conversations with each customer about why they’re getting the items they are on their sub and how their lives are going. It’s not necessary when there are over 10 customers in line, taking about 5 minutes for her to make one persons sub.
4.     Apple radio lets you download the song to your music and stops playing it half way through unless you make a separate playlist for only that one song.
·       Why? Apple radio either likes to charge you for a song, or make it harder for you to play one of the free songs. Doing it so then people get frustrated and buy the music instead.
5.     The University of Florida campus having their speed limit 20 miles per hour everywhere, making it extremely difficult to get anywhere on time.
·       Why? UF does it to make it safer all around campus, but on certain roads throughout campus, some get busier than others and should be bumped up in speed, to make it faster and more efficient to get places.
6.     Overly priced cover at the bars in Gainesville, making it hard to go out and have fun when you have to pay 10$ to even get in.
·       Why? The bars know that students want to go out at night and know which bars have certain deals, so they figured why not make more money by charging them to get in.
7.     Most of my quizzes on canvas are timed the same amount of how many questions are on the quiz. If there is 17 minutes, it’s usually with 17 questions.
·       Why? Teachers clearly think students only need one minute to answer each question. But, that is definitely not true depending on the question and how long one needs to think about it.
8.     When the printer in my apartment only decides to stop working when I need it most, but always works when I use it for something unimportant.
·       Why? Because when Office Depot tells you this printer is one of their best sellers they are lying, and because printers glitch more than any product I’ve seen yet. After trying to fix it many times, the only solution is to print it days before so then it can maybe decide to work.
9.     Why Gainesville and UF find the need to charge an overpriced decal for every transportation vehicle wanting to park anywhere.
·       Why? Gainesville and UF clearly think they need to be taking more money from citizens who are on not only a college budget, but don’t need to be spending 120$ to park in a scooter parking spot. Parking is already so limited, that when there is a place to park, one either needs to pay extra for it a month, or get a ticket.
10.  When Apple MacBook’s have a glitch, making it force quit the application, then asking if it wants us to send our error to apple so they can fix our computers problem and never getting a response back.
·       Why? Apple wants us to think that they are trying to help us and care about our computer glitches/want to fix them. Not sure why apple gives you the option for them to try and fix the problem when they never give a response back or help.
11.  The extremely slow scooters that go at most 15 miles per hour on main roads and hold me up, making it hard to get anything accomplished when behind them
·       Why? These scooters are trying to play it safer by going slow on main roads, but they shouldn’t be on those roads in the first place. Roads like Archer Road are meant for cars to go at least 30 miles per hour on, not 10, and not for scooters.

12.  Trying to workout with apple earphones that last 5 seconds in my ears before falling out, making it distracting to do anything.
·       Why? Since the apple earphones come with any apple product purchased, apple clearly thinks the design of these earphones is made not for human use and aren’t as important.
13.  Cars not being able to have fast horsepower and good gas mileage at the same time.
·       Why? One has to sacrifice the other in this situation because if one wants good gas mileage, they can’t have a fast car with lots of horsepower at the same time. Fast horsepower wastes gas, making the gas mileage horrible, and a car with good gas mileage has to be less fast.
14.  Having to download Faulkner press application for a Physical Science class at UF and getting a computer bug from it every time.
·       Why? I’d think UF would be able to figure out by now that this app has pop-up ads and can cause software bugs, but still have not fixed it because it’s clearly still being required. UF must not care about the software program affecting student’s computers because when I have asked, the only response back is that it is necessary to download it.
15.  Mackeeper ad popping up every 5 minutes on my computer “alerting me that I have problems with my computer” due to it being a spam ad and never going away even after being deleted.
·       Why? The application that is needed for a UF class brought a bug in my computer, which allows this ad to spam me how ever many times it would like, until the application is deleted.
16.  When I’m taking a quiz and my computer falls asleep half way through it, not letting me in for a minute or two, wasting time on the quiz.
·       Why? The computer falls asleep because it thinks I’m not using it, when I am, just looking at my screen for moments without moving the mouse.
17.  Making a “free” account on a website, but still having to put in a credit card.
·       Why? Because this website is not free and just says that so when you put in your card, they charge you, having you agreed to their million word count terms & conditions before hand, not really viewing them too well.
18.  Being charged on an account through a website, when you have already disabled the account long ago.
·       Why? A foreign website is never to be trusted because if I hadn’t called, I would still be charged monthly. Clearly their disable account option is not real.
19.  Every nail salon aggressively filing the sides of your nails until they burn or bleed, asking way too many times if they’re hurting you and you saying yes, but nothing changing.
·       Why? Nail filers are sharp and course, making it harsh on your nails and skin. The people doing your nails don’t care about your feelings, just if they are making your nails look good and getting their job done.
20.  Netflix having two account options for their payment, making it for either a single person or a family, also making it hard for even one more person to view your account at the same time as you. It can only be one person view it for a price, or many view it for a higher price. Since there is only a $3 difference, why not just make one, at a median price.
·       Why? Netflix thinks they’re special and should make that option necessary since they’ll be the only video streaming website to have that, when in reality they’re making things more complicated and unnecessary.

Reflection:

I was surprised at how many bugs I had and didn’t think all of these bugs really bothered me until I wrote them all out on paper. I found it slightly difficult to think of every one because I usually try to change something up if I’m not happy with the results of a product or service. These bugs were mostly out of my control and unfixable, that is why they bother me more than anything, making me wish I had a solution for them right then and there.

  1. We tend to be bothered by a few of the same things. I agree with you that the rush hour traffic on University and the 20 mph speed limit all throughout campus is a little unnecessary in some parts. I have the same problems with my iPhone and it is pretty crazy how little pride they take in their work for how much they charge. It isn't fun when stuff is out of your control and you cant fix it as with all technology. http://tonyclements90.blogspot.com/
